SOS Nursery School - Assomada

With a total number of 98 children attending, the nursery school celebrated practically all the dates in the calendar with an educational theme. They were feast occasions which were celebrated, highlighting the Carnival, Mother’s Day and Father's day, Child’s day, Easter, National Heroes Day, and Christmas. The Party of Finalists deserved a special attention for the transition for the primary school (41 children finished the academic year 2007/2008 amongst which 4 of the SOS children). The organisation and the administration of the 8th Children’s Games was made by the staff of nursery school and about 500 children and some dozens of children’s teachers also took part. 

The SOS Nursery School also participated in the reinforcement programme and prevention of the abandonment by families. The staff worked with 25 families with a total of 87 beneficiaries under the coordination of the social worker and in partnership with Cape verdean Caritas, an NGO. 

SOS Nursery School – SÃO DOMINGOS

During the year the SOS Nursery School operates with four teachers in the 3 to 5 years old classrooms, 2 baby day care teachers, (to cover children aged 0 to 2 years old), and also with 1 teacher which helps every classrooms and supervise the planning, 1 general services auxiliary.

From October to December there were ninety two children from the community of R.Chiqueiro, São Domingos, Milho Branco, and only four children from the SOS Children's Village Sao Domingos.

Mother’s Day:

The SOS Nursery School of the Children’s Village commemorated Mother's day with the SOS Mothers of the children that attended classes at the SOS Nursery School. A vast programme was carried out with prominence for a soccer game between the mothers of the SOS Children’s Village São Domingos's and the one of the Community of Ribeirão Chiqueiro.  Mothers from the SOS Children’s Village São Domingos's won 2 to 1, but the most important was the fun, exchanges of gifts and the recreational afternoon.

The SOS Nursery School took part in the SOS Children Games.

Children of the SOS Nursery School went to take part in the activities of the cultural week of Brazil.

The children of the SOS Nursery School commemorated June 1st, International Day of the Child. The activities happened at the SOS Nursery School hall included a lot of animation: music, dances, reading of poems and messages about the importance of the date. During the day food was served which had been made by the parents.  During the party, the children were full of happiness and enthusiasm.
