SOS Schools in Central African Republic

SOS Nursery School Bangui

Operational since October 1992, the SOS of Bangui, of an enrolment capacity of 125, for three section (1little section, two classes of average section and two classes of large section) has registered in 2008, 127 children among whom 10 bys and 7 girls of the SOS Children’s Village Bangui. Teachers in the nursery school also train teachers in local schools.


The fundamental learning, trainings or “pre-learning’s”/”pre-trainings” in the fields of reading, mathematics, writingSOS Nursery School Bangui, Central African Republic, speech and play activities constitute the main educational activities of the SOS Nursery School. The transition between the SOS Nursery School and the primary school is made through the decampartmentalisation of the activities in the educational area.

  

At least one session of exchange per term is organised between the large section and classes of initiation and preparatory classes, receiving generally children of the large section. Over 60 children transferred this year, 16 have directly gone to the preparatory and initiation classes. Their results are globally positive (success rate of 98%).


The community grasps more and more clearly the existing reason or cause of the SOS Nursery School. The result is their eagerness to enrol their children and their participation to the varieties of socio-cultural activities of the school. (School feast, students or pupils parents meeting etc...)


At the beginning of the school year, the SOS Nursery School has taken an active part in the organisation and the setting up of the “Open-Door to pre-school” days organised by the inspection of Bangui Maternal School.


A technical support is regularly given by the Ministry of National Education, through the inspection of maternal school in the educational staff training.


SOS Primary School Bangui

The SOS Primary School, which opened in October 1992, has 450 pupils in 12 classes.

As the other educational establishment of the SOS Children Village of Bangui, the SOS Primary School Bangui goes on with seriousness and efficiency, achieving its mission of education, tutoring and transmitting knowledge to children of the SOS Children’s Village, as well as those of the surrounding community, in order to build or shape tomorrow’s citizens.

SOS Primary School Bangui Central African RepublicIn 2008, 842 children have been enrolled in this school which function s in two terms. The morning cycle has 432 students pupils among whom 59 children (29 boys + 30 girls) of the SOS Children’s Village of Bangui. The afternoon cycle has 410 students /pupils coming from the community in terms of the activities of “scholarisation” of the RFP.

The SOS Primary School Bangui has performed a rate of 100% in Fundamental I certificate examination and a rate of 84% concerning the 1st form Entry examination or 6e “the rate of success of passing to superior class examination is of 92%. It constitute for all in this sector, a "school of excellence” or school of reference by the fact of its positive results and structures. 

Beyond the merely quantitative aspect, the results of the first term of the academic year 2008-2009 assert the grooving quantitative tendency of the global results of the SOS Primary School, which emphasis has been put during all the academic school year.

During this same period the school has connected a strong of partnership with the local society called “RACINE SERVICES INFOSCOL” or “INFOSCHOOL ROOT SERVICES”, for wide spreading a computer room of 18 computers in order to make available to all students the Technology of Information and communication (ICT). An experienced educator is designed for the children in difficulties of training.
