SOS Schools in Sudan

SOS Nursery School Khartoum

The SOS Nursery School at Khartoum continues to support the surrounding communities of the SOS Children's Village Khartoum with space for about 40 children. The SOS Nursery School is the first step of integration of SOS children in the community where our SOS children make their first friends from outside the village.

Many activities were conducted in accordance to 2008 plan to ensure that they all benefit and participate in sports, cultural, and social activities and receive religion and academic support.

The nursery school working team concentrated on listening to the children's thoughts through dedicating classes on a daily basis for children to express themselves. This required that every child stands in front of the class and says what he/she wants to say to his teacher and classmates.

SOS Primary and Secondary School Khartoum

The SOS Primary School opened in 1982. There are about 800 pupils taught in 24 classes.  The four SOS Schools in Khartoum are located into two different places, including Arkaweit and Ombeda.

All the schools are providing good services to the surrounding communities of both the SOS Children's Village Khartoum and SOS Educational Complex Ombeda.

A total of 2,614 students are in the schools (1,758 in Ombeda and 856 in Arkaweet) and due to the new plan of SOS Children to distribute our children between different schools in the town to avoid isolating the children, as in the past all SOS children studied in SOS Schools in Arkaweet, SOS Sudan distributed the children among a number of different governmental and private schools. Currently, only seven children are enrolled at the SOS School Arkaweit.
