SOS Nursery School Chengdu

There are altogether 110 kids studying at the nursery school now. Among them, 20 are SOS kids, the others are from the nearby community. The SOS Nursery School Chengdu has a staff of 16 people, which is consisted of master, 1 health doctor, 2 cooks and 12 teachers.

The nursery school organised a series of parenthood activities in the year. It has a strict rule for the safety of food and children. Children have fun and grow up healthily in the nursery school.

SOS Nursery School Kaifeng

Learning from other SOS Children’s Villages in China, the SOS Nursery School Kaifeng started to find cooperative business partner to provide financial support since the second half of this year, which not only could make up the shortage of money of for the Nursery School, but also could provide financial help for the village. 

SOS Nursery School Lhasa

Now, there are 44 children studying in the nursery school. Among the kids, there are 6 SOS kids and 38 outside kids. This year all the work was carried out smoothly at the SOS Nursery School Lhasa. We improved methods of teaching and perfect the management systems.

According to usual practice as well as the rule of the nursery school, we gave the kids good health check-up annually. The nursery school invited the kid’s parents to hold some activities to promote the co-operation between home and nursery school and received good result. The village also signed the contract on the nursery school work and rewarding and punishment. Continue to hold the education and discussion meeting and let the kid’s parents come into the class. Through improving education in many ways, the nursery school work is improved a lot.

SOS Nursery School Nanchang

There are 70 kids at the SOS Nursery School Nanchang, and there are 4 kids that come from our village. They have got many little friends, and enjoy the time in the nursery school. In the 2006, the nursery school organises an activity to build up the confident of children.

The children have different characteristics. Maybe he is no good at study, but he is good at singing. We will tell him to say ‘I am best in singing’ then we will asking him to show to his parents, and encourage him to do better. We also pay attention to the teaching skills of teachers. Having an open class, its makes teachers learn good ways from other teachers to improve themselves.

 

SOS Nursery School Putian

The Nursery school is part of the SOS Children's Village Putian. There are 136 kids in the nursery school, including five SOS kids. It lays emphasis on safety and intra management. In 2007 it was awarded the title of “safe nursery school”  by the District Government.

Finally, we’d like to thank you all for your great and long-term help to the Village and the children, so we could supply them a place called home, where they could set their small feet before they grow up.

SOS Nursery School Qigihar

There are more than 85 kids in the nursery school now. Some teachers were sent to be trained in the society to improve their ability of education and administration. So the environment of the SOS Nursery School Qiqihar has been improved greatly this year. Parents are satisfied with the nursery school.

 

 

 

 

SOS Nursery School Tianjin

There are 51 children in the nursery school, including 4 SOS children this year. For building a good environment for kids, the nursery school has renewed part of old facilities, such as TV, DVD, and recorder.

We also purchased some new books, Compact Discs, teaching aids and sports goods for teaching use. For enhancing the quality of nursery school, we organise teachers to attend psychological training so that they could get improved and learn more new knowledge to give guidance to kids.

 Meanwhile, the head of the SOS Nursery School Tianjin attends the training held by the Education Commission of Tianjin, and learns the new concept of management and advanced management experience. And then the nursery school takes in the new mode that is to set up an open day for all the parents, from which the nursery school could get some new suggestions for improving on the teaching quality.

SOS Nursery School Urumqi

, the SOS Nursery school plays an active role in providing day care and pre-school education for the families in our neighbourhood.

 

This year, the nursery school pays much attention to not only the quality of day care but also pre-school education. It provides special classes to children who are talented or have special interests. One child won an award for his talented performance in a local fashion show for children.

At present, 120 children (including 16 from the SOS Children's Village) are receiving day care and pre-school education in the SOS Nursery School.

SOS Nursery School Yantai

The dance “Happiness”  performed by kids in nursery school has won the first place in the competition held by the government of Fushan District. They also created two other programmes and won the third places. 

SOS Secondary School Yantai-Fushan

Yantai is an attractive and relatively prosperous coastal town in the northern province of Shandong. This region has a moderate monsoon climate. The SOS Children's Village Yantai is situated in the district of Fushan. With a capacity of more than 3,000 students, SOS School Yantai is the largest SOS School in the world. It enjoys the status of a model school in China. It was officially opened in 1993. The gym of the school was finished three years later.

The school consists of 47 classes, of which 19 are junior classes and 28 are senior ones. The total number of the students attending classes is over 3000 now. There are 239 teachers and staff in the school, of whom over 80 are associate professors or lecturers. The school covers approximately and area of 95,333 square metres. It is made up of 15 buildings, of which there is a gymnasium training building about 1,500 square metres, where lots of contests are successfully held.

The school makes it an objective to be an internationally-noted Chinese famous school. With the guiding principle of "Making the students talented, the parents relieved and the society satisfied, and upholding a favorable school spirit". First, the school consistently puts the ideological education in the first place. Aiming at making the students have perfect characters, we persist in emphasizing on the patriotism and love education; and offering love and devotion, in order to optimise the educational environment. Secondly, teaching is treated as the central task. While carrying out education, we are devoting ourselves to the improvement of the teaching quality and level. Each term, two foreign experts are invited to teach in the school.

Update report from 2008:

During the past year, our school has successfully completed all tasks of the whole year, and at the same time, working conditions and teaching qualities have been greatly improved with the care and support of the International SOS Children, SOS Children of China and governments of all levels, the help of the intelligent people from all walks of life and the joint efforts of every employee in our school. In 2008, our school received many honorary titles, such as Civilized Department of Shandong Province, Safe and Civilized School of Yantai, Advanced Department for Education of Fushan District, Advanced Department for the Achievements of the Construction of Morality and Thought of adolescents, etc.

This is a cradle for students going to success. Our school always carries forward the spirit of SOS Children with the ideas of educating for the future, and makes every effort to carry out quality education, probe into an effective way for teaching and educating better and construct a high-efficient and harmonious class. Our school devotes all to every student for the purpose of their overall, healthy and sustainable development with advanced teaching equipment, beautiful school environment, wonderful study atmosphere and colorful sports and art activities. The result is that in the entrance examination to college in 2008 we got more than 200 excellent students receiving admittance offer from top-class universities of China, and the increasing ratio came first among senior high schools in Fushan District as well as the junior-to-senior high school examination, in which we have been the first for nine consecutive years; we had four senior three students getting the third prize in the National Mathematics and Physics Olympics; we won the first prize in the arts contest in Fushan district; our Junior school students and Senior students won the first and second prize respectively in the sports meeting hold by the district.

This is fertile soil for teachers’ development. Our school puts great emphasis on improving overall quality of teachers with scientific teaching ideas. We aim to provide the teachers with an excellent teaching and researching atmosphere, equipping them with advanced equipment and the management with humanity. In 2008, 12 teachers were awarded excellent workers and advanced education workers by the district; 36 excellent theses were published in the influential magazines and newspapers, and 9 teachers showed high quality lessons in Yantai.

This is a joyful sea as well as a hopeful field. Students can get a better chance here to get educated and make sincere contact with teachers. Here is a beautiful place for students to read in, a wonderful drawing room to paint in, and a gym to exercise in.  This is a river full of love, where humanity lives long. Our school managed to solve kinds of problems for students from poor families; there are 213 students in total this year studying for free. We also hold many activities to support others donate clothes and money to people who are in earthquake-stricken areas.

This is an ideal place and garden for students and teachers to work in. Our school aims to be a first-class one so as to create a beautiful environment to study in, so we keep putting into financial support and providing best service for teachers and students. During the last year, with the great help of SOS Children Internationally and SOS Children China, we put a large amount of money to paint all buildings in our school, put on boards whose contents cover interesting and intelligent words, replace desks, chairs and doors in Junior and Senior high school, make a new basketball playground with five pieces of basketball equipment and recently we added 178 laptops for each teacher, 22 HD colour TV sets and 30 multi-media facilities, which made it come true that every teacher with one computer and made it possible for everyone to share high-quality lessons resources. The purpose of all these actions aims to supply a strong support for school to develop healthily and harmoniously.

This is a ligament bridging friendships home and abroad, where friends from all places can exchange their ideas on learning. With preponderant advantages, we keep in good touch with Cambridge University, Norway United University, Hebel University of German and Jing Yi Pei Ying Middle school, Korea as well as establishing close co-operation with Ocean University of China, Shandong University and Dalian Foreign Languages University to improve better chances for excellent students to study further.

In 2008, we pained more, gained more with bitter and happiness. Now it turns to a new page, on the brand new point we will do more to create a better future for children and to reward all the support and care from SOS Children Internationally and SOS Children China.
