SOS Schools: Gandaki Primary and Secondary School

SOS Children's Villages

The combined SOS Primary and Secondary School opened in 1982 as two schools on two separate sites. In 2001 a primary school was built on the site of the secondary school. Today there are over 650 pupils taught in 12 classes, 200 in primary and 460 in secondary. The school works with the British Council in Nepal in order to develop the teaching of English as a foreign language.

The education system of the country is rather poor. A large percentage of the population is illiterate. Children from the local community are provided with school uniforms and books by SOS Children.
